According to COO Berthold Trenkel, Qatar Tourism (QT) aspires to quadruple employment possibilities in the tourism sector as the country continues to position itself as a global leader in service excellence.

Active holidays; relaxation and rejuvenation; sun, sea, and sand; cultural lovers; luxury city breaks; and romantic getaways are the six demand zones they want to focus on generating experiences in. "These demand spaces reflect a holistic and all-encompassing perspective of what Qatar has to offer and which customer categories we want to focus on," he said recently at the Qatar Tourism Authority's Annual Tourism Industry Ramadan Ghabga.

Trenkel expected that the second half would be even better, noting a seven-fold increase in visitor numbers in the first quarter of 2022. They plan to expand the number of tourists visiting Qatar in the next three years, raise spending in our destination by three to four times, and increase the travel and tourism sector's contribution to GDP from 7 to 12 percent, is from an ambitious 2030 plan.

"I am convinced that by working together this year and beyond, we will continue to grow and launch a number of projects that will bring visitors to Qatar even beyond the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022." Trenkel explained.

From May 3 to 5, QT will host the first-ever Eid Festival on the Doha Corniche, which will include balloon parades, carnival activities, marching bands, and more. Qatar is a location where people from all over the world come together to explore unique offers in the arts, culture, sports, and adventure, with a focus on family and business tourists. The Doha Jewelry & Watches Exhibition (DJWE), another widely anticipated event, will actually occur at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center from May 9 to 13. More than 65 exhibitors from more than 10 countries, as well as 500 well-known international companies, will be present at DJWE.

Qatar Tourism launched the award-winning Visit Qatar website and mobile app as part of its digital transformation strategy, which serves as a guide to help travellers create personalized itineraries. Last year, QT hosted over 100 journalists in Qatar and opened nine new travel trade representative offices throughout the world, according to Trenkel, helping to consolidate Qatar's position on the global tourism map.
