The storm hit the eastern city of Derna particularly hard, where it is estimated that as much as a quarter of the city has been destroyed.
The Emir's instructions came after he received a briefing on the situation from the Prime Minister and the Minister of Foreign Affairs. The flooding has affected at least 100,000 people and caused millions of dollars in damage.
The emergency aid will include food, water, shelter, and medical supplies. It will be delivered by Qatar Airways and the Qatar Red Crescent Society.
The Emir's decision to provide emergency aid is a reflection of Qatar's commitment to helping those in need. It is also a sign of the close ties between Qatar and Libya.
