This historic vote invites Qatari citizens to decide on a series of constitutional amendments, including a potential halt to introducing additional elections.

The referendum follows Qatar’s inaugural legislative elections in 2021, which allowed citizens to elect two-thirds of the advisory Shura Council. However, election outcomes led to tensions, notably among the Bedouin Al Murrah tribe, due to voting eligibility requirements. Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani labeled these elections as an “experiment,” leading to the proposed amendments under review.

Polling will be available through both electronic and paper ballots, with 10 designated non-electronic stations at sports centers and 18 electronic stations, including major malls and public facilities across Qatar.
