Parents can now register their children electronically via the Maaref portal, making it easier to apply from home. This online service is part of the ministry’s efforts to streamline the registration process for families, ensuring that all eligible students can secure a spot in the country’s public schools. The service is open to children of Qatari citizens, GCC nationals, and residents employed in government sectors, charitable institutions, or who hold permanent residency.
School Enrollment Details
Government schools and kindergartens in Qatar are gearing up to welcome approximately 131,000 students on September 1, 2024, as the new academic year kicks off. A total of 215 government schools and 64 kindergartens are set to open their doors.
Health and Document Verification
Schools will handle the health file submissions for new students to ensure they meet the medical requirements. If a student needs additional support, the school will refer the case to the Roua Centre for Assessment, Counselling, and Support. Additionally, schools are tasked with verifying the accuracy of documents uploaded by parents during the online registration process. Applications with incomplete or unclear documentation may be rejected.
Manual Registration Option
In cases where online registration is unavailable or closed, parents can apply manually at schools within their geographical area, subject to space availability. Schools will also facilitate electronic transfers within the system once they confirm that the guardian’s residence falls within the school’s designated area.
