The cost-cutting initiative, scheduled to last until July 1st, 2023, aims to maintain price stability during Eid Al Adha. It will provide affordable goods, maintain a balance between supply and demand, and stop unreasonable price hikes for meat during high demand.

An agreement has been made with Widam Food Company, a major player in food companies, in light of the most recent initiative. In accordance with the weight of the sheep, both domestic and imported sheep will be made available to the public at subsidized, discounted prices.

What is the cost of sheep for Eid Al Adha 2023?

The MoCI stated that both categories of sheep would be valued at QAR 1,000 if they weigh 40 kg or more. No sales will be made of sheep who are underweight or fail to follow the rules. They will only be available for purchase in the company's designated slaughterhouses in Al Shamal, Al Khor, Umm Salal, Al Wakra, and Al Sheehaniya.

The MoCI has indicated that an additional QAR 50 would be charged for services including loading, slaughtering, cutting, and packaging.

The division is QAR 16 for cutting, packaging, and slaughtering, and QAR 34 for loading. The option to use these service vouchers can be exercised at any time between the start of the initiative and the end of December 2023 by individuals who wish to postpone the slaughter of their sheep.

The initiative's terms state that anyone who is a citizen of Qatar and is at least 20 years old with a current ID card can buy a sheep through this program. Each eligible buyer is only permitted to buy one sheep in order to ensure a fair distribution.

Authorities have promised to strengthen their inspection efforts, particularly with regard to adherence to the reduced prices, in order to make sure that sellers follow rules and regulations.

As part of its commitment to ensuring the initiative's integrity and success, the ministry also urges customers to report any instances of violations.
