Details of the Air Bridge

Qatar's Minister of State for International Cooperation, Lolwah Al-Khater, shared this news from a public hospital in Beirut. She stated, "Today we launched the air bridge with consecutive planes carrying food, shelter materials, and medical supplies." This effort aims to address the growing humanitarian crisis in Lebanon, and Al-Khater mentioned that Doha is also working on medium and long-term plans to help contain the situation.

Impact of the Ongoing Conflict

Since September 23, Israel has intensified its air campaign, primarily targeting Hezbollah strongholds in Lebanon. This conflict has resulted in over 1,150 fatalities and displaced more than a million people. In light of this, Lebanese Health Minister Firass Abiad emphasized that the Qatari aid will help cover shortages in medical and relief supplies, making it a vital push for the hundreds of thousands of displaced and injured individuals.

Collaborative Efforts

During this critical time, Prime Minister Najib Mikati also met with the Qatari minister to discuss further cooperation.

In addition to Qatar's support, a French plane carrying medical aid landed in Beirut on the same day, marking one of several planeloads of assistance that have arrived at Lebanon's only international airport since the conflict escalated. Other countries, including the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Iraq, Egypt, Jordan, and Romania, are also contributing aid to Lebanon in these challenging times.
