The two-kilometer sand walkway aims to offer health-conscious residents a unique exercise option with potential benefits for joint health and overall well-being.
The initiative stems from the numerous advantages associated with sand jogging tracks, particularly their lower impact on joints compared to harder surfaces. This lower impact can contribute to a reduced risk of overuse injuries commonly linked to jogging on more rigid terrains, making sand jogging a safer and sustainable exercise alternative.
The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) is actively collaborating on the project, carefully selecting a suitable type of sand that meets health specifications. The chosen sand will not only provide a conducive surface for jogging but also contribute to the elimination of negative energy and excessive electrons from the body, enhancing the overall wellness experience.
In addition to the sandy jogging track, plans are underway to expand Al Gharrafa Park, located on Umm Al Zuber Street. The expansion will repurpose a 25,000 sqm area previously utilized for bus services during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, introducing more walkways, green spaces, landscapes, and play areas for children. This strategic enhancement aims to accommodate the growing number of park visitors, making Al Gharrafa Park a more appealing and functional recreational space.
