The Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) has invested $150 million in North Road Company, a global, multi-genre studio that produces the TV series 'Love Is Blind' and the 'Planet of the Apes' films.
The studio was launched last year by media tycoon Peter Chernin, with initial investments of $500 million from Providence Equity Partners and $300 million in debt financing from Apollo.
The $150 million from Qatar's sovereign wealth fund will supplement the firm's capital reserves to support its ongoing expansion.
"QIA's investment enables North Road to capitalize even further on the growing demand for premium, independent content," Chernin said.
He added that the latest investment fuels the company's "continuing strategy to expand via organic and inorganic growth initiatives globally."
Chernin aims to establish himself as one of the major content providers for international streaming platforms.
