President Ali Ahmed Al Hitmi of the Qatar Gymnastics Federation (QGF) officially opened the competition at the Aspire Dome, inviting all competitors to the region's sports hub and wishing them a successful tournament.

Some of the greatest gymnasts from around the world and Asia will compete over the next three days for a spot in the 2022 FIG World Artistic Championships.

This year's Asian tournament, which was previously conducted in Qatar in 2008, comprises 137 competitors from 21 countries competing for grand prizes.

China, the defending champion, is aiming for the top spot once more in Doha. In Ulaanbaatar (Mongolia) in 2019, the country led the medals table with 18 podium finishes, 10 of which were gold.

Aspire includes Japan, South Korea, Chinese Taipei, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan in Central Asia, Iran, Indonesia, and Saudi Arabia.

The men's floor exercise, pommel horse, and rings, as well as the women's vault and uneven bars, were all included on the opening day of the grand championship.

Carlos Yulo of the Philippines has taken the lead in the men's all-around competition, while Wei Xiaoyuan of China holds a narrow lead in the women's competition.

With 124.900 and 123.533 points, Chinese Taipei and Japan are in second and third place, respectively, in the men's team tournament, while China holds a slender lead with 126.000 points.

The men's vault, horizontal and parallel bars, women's balance beam, and floor exercise will all take place on the second day.

The finals, which will take place on days three and four, will serve as qualifying events for The Team and All-Around competitions.

The list of 32 teams for the FIFA World Cup has been finalized, and Costa Rica has secured the final spot.

Five Asian four-gymnast teams (MAG), including six from All-Around competitions, four female four-gymnast teams, and eight from All-Around events, will compete for a spot in the World Championships, which will be held in Liverpool (United Kingdom) from October 29 to November 6.

A total of 24 teams of five gymnasts for both MAG and WAG will be eligible to qualify for the continental competitions, per FIG rules for the Worlds, in addition to 40 individual MAG gymnasts from All-Around events and 49 for WAG.

On Thursday, athletes will compete for a chance to reach the top two slots (MAG and WAG) and fly to Liverpool.
