One of the highlights of the opening day of the festival, the Goodwood Cup of the first category for purebred horses, which was held for the first time in 1812, with a distance of 3200 meters, with total prize money of half a million pounds.
this title has been won throughout its ancient history by a huge number of long-distance racing champions, perhaps the most prominent of them is the horse "Stradivarius", who has won the big title 4 times so far, and here he is returning again this year in an effort to regain his title after the horse "Trushan" took it from him last year, He gifted his coach at the time, Alan King, his first victory in the first category at this high level, and therefore the confrontation will be very strong and intense between these two champions.
However, it is expected that the competition will not be limited to them, but rather each of them must give their best, and they also face the rising star of the pony "Cyprius" (Galileo), who achieved a big and deserved victory when he won the Ascot Gold Cup in the first category last month.
On the second day of the festival, attention is focused on the Qatar International Stakes of the first category for purebred Arabian horses for a distance of 1600 meters, which was held for the first time in 2015, and is considered the largest run of its kind in terms of financial prizes in Britain and even in Europe as well, where the total of its prizes is 400,000 pounds, and it has become a prominent mark in the program of thoroughbred Arabian horse racing worldwide.
On the third day of the Qatar Goodwood Festival of Horse Racing, the participation in all races on that day is limited to females, and the most prominent runs are the Qatar Nassau Stakes of the first category of purebred female horses, with total prize money of 600,000 pounds.
On the penultimate day of the festival on Friday, the Qatar King George Stakes race of the second category of purebred horses topped the scene, as one of the most important and most prominent speed runs of the season and was won last year by the filly "Suissy" under the supervision of coach Francois Roux.
