With the exception of the months when the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 was held, February 2023 was the busiest month for tourism in Qatar in the past decade, with the highest number of international arrivals recorded.
Qatar has become a popular destination for tourists worldwide due to its excellent safety record, well-organized public transportation, beautiful beaches, and cultural landmarks. The country's unique combination of modernity and authenticity is a major draw for visitors.
Additionally, the "Feel Winter in Qatar" campaign organized by Qatar Tourism likely attracted visitors at the beginning of the year. This campaign included various events such as performances by renowned regional and international artists, family-friendly activities, and the Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition.
Doha, the Arab Tourism Capital of the year, was also a hub for several top-notch sporting events in the first two months of 2023. These events included the Visit Qatar GKA Freestyle Kite World Cup 2023, Qatar TotalEnergies Open, and Qatar ExxonMobil Open, which were all held in the city. The hosting of these events is expected to further promote Doha as a destination.
