On October 22, 2024, Qatar Airways made history by operating the first Boeing 777 equipped with Starlink, a satellite internet service, on its route from Doha to London. This marks a significant advancement in in-flight connectivity, positioning Qatar Airways, recently voted the World’s Best Airline by Skytrax, at the forefront of airline technology.

Free Ultra Fast Internet for Passengers

With Starlink, passengers will benefit from ultra-high-speed, low-latency internet service available for free throughout their flight. The service works seamlessly from gate to gate, allowing travelers to stay connected, stream shows, or even work while flying at 35,000 feet.

Expanding Starlink Technology

Initially targeting three Starlink-equipped aircraft, Qatar Airways plans to exceed that goal by upgrading 12 Boeing 777-300s with this service by the end of 2024. The airline also aims to equip its entire Boeing 777 fleet by 2025, with the Airbus A350 fleet following in the summer of the same year.

Starlink: A Game Changer

Developed by SpaceX, Starlink is the largest satellite constellation in low Earth orbit, designed to provide reliable internet access anywhere. With this partnership, Qatar Airways aims to enhance the travel experience by offering passengers the ability to connect effortlessly and efficiently.

Industry Firsts

With the launch of its first Starlink-equipped flight, Qatar Airways has achieved several milestones, including:

- The world’s first Starlink-equipped Boeing 777.

- The first passenger aircraft in the MENA region to offer Starlink.

- The longest-range passenger aircraft equipped with Starlink.

As the first service of its kind in the MENA region, this collaboration with Starlink sets a new standard for in-flight connectivity, ensuring that passengers enjoy a more connected and enjoyable travel experience. The Starlink-equipped aircraft will be deployed on select routes as part of Qatar Airways’ plan to enhance connectivity and service quality for its travelers.
