Qatar Airways Hosts The 78th General Assembly of The International Air Transport Association And The World Summit
Qatar Airways has announced that it will host the 78th General Assembly of the International Air Transport Association and the World Air Transport Summit in Doha from June 19 to 21.
Qatar Airways Group CEO Akbar Al Baker said that Qatar Airways is proud to host the annual General Assembly of the International Air Transport Association and the World Air Transport Summit, for the second time after we hosted this global event in 2014.

He stressed that Qatar Airways has always been one of the most prominent supporters of the International Air Transport Association, and this year's edition of the meeting is a valuable opportunity to showcase the authentic Qatari hospitality, as well as to show the extent of improvement and development that has occurred in the infrastructure in Qatar in preparation for hosting the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
Al Baker added that the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar will be the first of its kind in the Middle East and the Arab world, which will be an ideal opportunity for the entire Arab region to showcase our efforts and achievements to the world, as well as show the region’s readiness to host major global events and events, and welcome visitors and football fans from all over the world, and hosting this global event indicates our willingness to provide a more convenient and flexible travel experience and to provide the best and smooth travel options for our travelers from all over the world.
For his part, Mr. Willie Walsh, Director-General of the International Air Transport Association, said that early next week, Doha will become the capital of air transport, as aviation sector leaders from all over the world will gather at the 78th General Assembly of the International Air Transport Association and the World Air Transport Summit, in the continued recovery of the sector from the effects of the Corona pandemic.
During this conference, participants will review the progress made by the sector in terms of gender diversity, and the aviation sector's determination to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, With high oil prices, war conditions, and inflation, this meeting will provide an opportunity for airlines to assess the challenges prospective economics.
The three-day conference will witness the meeting of nearly 240 international airlines.
It is expected that this year's General Assembly will attract more than 750 guests from the leaders of the aviation sector, and more than 150 international media will attend to discuss the most important topics, issues, and global trends related to the aviation sector.
Sustainability will be among the main topics that will be discussed during this conference, with a focus on the steps that the entire aviation sector will take to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050.
The conference will also discuss the steps that the aviation sector can take to support global efforts to reduce the use of single-use plastics, and address the challenges faced by the sector to offset carbon and use sustainable jet fuel, in order to come up with sustainable environmental solutions.
