Qatar Airways Group's overall revenue increased to QR76.3 billion ($ 21 billion) during the 2022/23 financial year, up 45 percent compared to the prior fiscal year.
However, the airline reported a net profit of QR4.4 billion ($1.21 billion) during the financial year, slightly down compared to 2021/22.
The Doha-based carrier attributed the increase in revenues during the 2022/23 financial year to the historic FIFA World Cup Qatar late last year, when 1.4 million of those passengers flew with the airline in only 28 days.
Over the course of the financial year, the airline said it carried 31.7 million passengers, an increase of 71 percent compared to the 2021/22 fiscal year.
"This year's strong financial results are attributed to the strong passenger demand recovery and the team's ability to cater to this demand," commented the airline’s chief executive Akbar Al Baker.
"As the global travel recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic continues, we have managed to retain high levels of trust, reliability and confidence with our customers. As a result, we maintained our position as the airline of choice for millions of passengers worldwide," Al Baker added.
