The incident, which occurred on flight QR017, prompted an emergency response upon landing at Dublin Airport. Emergency services, including Airport Police and Fire and Rescue personnel, were deployed to assist the six passengers and six crew members who reported injuries.
Initial reports suggest that the turbulence lasted less than 20 seconds and coincided with routine food and beverage service onboard. While the airline confirmed that only a 'small number' of passengers and crew sustained minor injuries, all affected individuals received medical attention upon landing.
Qatar Airways has launched an internal investigation into the incident but did not provide specific details regarding the turbulence. The airline assured that the safety and well-being of its passengers and crew remain its top priority.
This incident follows a similar turbulence-related emergency five days prior, involving a Singapore Airlines flight from London to Singapore, which resulted in one fatality and multiple injuries.
