Context of the Ban
This decision follows a tragic incident where walkie-talkies, handheld radios, and pagers exploded in three areas of Lebanon, resulting in the loss of 32 lives and injuring over 450 individuals. The affected areas include the South, Bekaa Valley, and the southern suburbs of Beirut, as reported by the Ministry of Health and the Lebanese Red Cross.
In response to the explosions, more than 30 ambulances have been deployed to provide medical treatment and evacuate the wounded. Emergency officials have confirmed that at least 95 individuals injured in the explosions have been transferred to Iran for medical treatment.
Importance of Safety Regulations
This ban underscores the critical importance of safety regulations in aviation. By prohibiting the carrying of potentially dangerous devices, authorities aim to ensure the safety of all passengers and crew members on board flights from Beirut. Travelers are urged to comply with this directive and avoid bringing any restricted items to the airport.
What Passengers Need to Know
- Effective Date: The ban is effective immediately and will be enforced until further notice.
- Restricted Items: All pagers and walkie-talkies are prohibited from checked luggage, carry-on bags, and cargo.
