According to data, 567,000 visitors were recorded in May and June, the most ever for these two months in the previous ten years. Compared to pre-pandemic levels which were 1,053,000 in 2019, international arrivals in 2023 have already doubled.
The debut of Qatar Tourism's "Feel More in Qatar" campaign and the ongoing schedule of top-notch events held around the nation since the year's beginning were both credited with the high increase in travelers.
Due to the busy calendar of events in Qatar Tourism's "Eid in Qatar" advertising, Eid celebrations in April and June resulted in a spike in visitors.
Qatar Tourism’s Chief Operating Officer Berthold Trenkel said, "These strong visitor numbers are a testament to the determination, hard work, and resilience of everyone involved in Qatar’s tourism and hospitality industry. With our ongoing roster of international events, industry-leading hospitality infrastructure, and ongoing commitment to Service Excellence, Qatar is well on its path to becoming the Middle East’s fastest-growing tourism destination.”
From 2023 to the present, 51% of all tourists to Qatar arrived by air, compared to 37% and 12% for those arriving by land and sea, respectively.
This year, travelers from Saudi Arabia continued to be the primary source market for tourists from other countries, accounting for about 25% of total arrivals. The following two are Germany and India.
With highly anticipated events like 'Feel Summer in Qatar,' the Geneva International Motor Show, Formula 1, and Expo Doha 2023 coming up, the country's good trend of spectacular events is expected to continue.
