More than 2.1 million passengers used the Doha Metro and Lusail Tram networks from the beginning of the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023 to the end of the second round on Jan. 21.
The metro and tram networks carried 2,164,211 passengers, with 2,086,162 passengers in the Doha Metro and 78,049 passengers in the Lusail Tram, according to the Qatar Railways Company (Qatar Rail).
These numbers show that many football fans prefer to use the metro and tram networks because they are convenient and convey the fans quickly to the stadiums.
For the AFC Asian Cup tournament, Qatar Rail fully mobilized the entire fleet of 110 Doha Metro trains.
The busiest stations during the AFC Asian Cup tournament so far were Msheireb, Lusail QNB, and DECC.
The metro and tram not only helped fans reach the stadiums for the AFC Asian Cup matches, they also allowed them to explore Doha's main attractions including Souq Waqif, Lusail Boulevard, Katara, and Al Bidda Park where Expo 2023 Doha is taking place.
