The Ministry of Public Health has launched a new website that provides local fans and visitors with a wide range of information related to healthcare services and health advice that will be provided during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

Dr. Ahmed Al-Mohammed, Head of the Health Strategic Leadership Group for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, said that the healthcare teams from the Ministry of Public Health, Hamad Medical Corporation, Primary Health Care Corporation, Aspetar, Sidra Medicine, Qatar Red Crescent, Qatar Armed Forces, and the Ministry of Interior, and the health services team at Qatar Energy, It will gather during the tournament to provide a wide range of medical and support services to teams, officials and specialized temporary workforce groups such as media agencies, as well as local and visiting fans.

Al-Mohammed said, in an exclusive statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), that the Ministry of Public Health is working with healthcare partners in Qatar to ensure easy access to medical services for football fans, as the healthcare sector in Qatar has expanded significantly in recent years, as fans will be able to have access to world-class medical services in times of need.

Pointing out that in the case of a medical emergency such as a serious injury or sudden illness, fans can call 999 to request rapid emergency support from the Hamad Medical Corporation Ambulance Service, where the Ambulance Service operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, provides rapid support for life-threatening medical incidents and the case is urgently transferred to the appropriate emergency department of the hospital.

He also highlighted that the essential part of the healthcare strategy, during the tournament, is to enable easy access to care and reduce the need for fans to visit hospitals for non-emergency care, pointing out that medical clinics have been established in football stadiums, fan areas, and main accommodation sites to support this objective.

For his part, Ali Abdullah Al-Khater, Chairman of the Supreme Committee for Health Care Communication, said in a similar statement to QNA that with more than one million fans expected to visit Qatar to attend the tournament, the Ministry is working hard to ensure that everyone is familiar with the available health care services and how to access them. Considering that the launch of the health information website for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 will provide fans with an electronic reference to learn about the health care system in Qatar and the multiple options available to them to obtain medical support.

Al-Khater also confirmed, in his statement, that from now until the start of the tournament, periodic messages will be sent to local and international football fans through multiple media platforms, in addition to the details of the medical services available throughout the tournament period
