Manchester United clinched its first major trophy in six years after defeating Newcastle United 2-0 in the English League Cup final at Wembley Stadium on Sunday, February 26th, following a Qatari bid to buy the club.

Manchester United was in control by halftime thanks to militant midfielder Casemiro's header and Newcastle United defender Sven Botman's own goal.
"You have to win the first one and that is what we did today," Dutch coach Erik ten Hag said. "We can get a lot of inspiration from this and more confidence that we can do it. We are still at the start of restoring Manchester United to where we belong — winning trophies."
Manchester United's first silverware since 2017 came ten days after Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamad Al Thani confirmed that he had submitted a bid for the whole Manchester United Football Club.
The chairman of Qatar Islamic Bank, Sheikh Jassim said he wanted to put "fans at the heart of Manchester United Football Club once more" and rebuild the team to its former glory.
L'Équipe reports that Qatar's offer is worth £4.5 billion, debt-free, and includes already-promised investments in transfers, the stadium, and a training facility.
