The magnificent Lusail Stadium is honored to achieve a GSAS rating of five stars. With its beautiful infrastructure and distinctive architecture, this FIFA World Cup 2022 venue—which is the largest in terms of capacity—delivers a lasting legacy.
The structure of Lusail Stadium was done with sustainable building techniques. Fans traveling from all over the world will undoubtedly have a fantastic time at the venue thanks to its elegant architecture and vivid patterns.
According to the Global Sustainability Assessment System (GSAS), which is run by the Gulf Organization for Research & Development, the spectacular Lusail Stadium received a five-star certification (GORD). On December 18, 2022, the venue is also scheduled to host the legendary FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 final.
GSAS Design & Build received a commendable rating, and GSAS Construction Management received a Class A* rating. Executives from Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy received the certificates at a ceremony on Monday. The SC delegation included Jassim Al Jaidah, Sustainability Communications Manager, Eng. Ghanim Al Kuwari, Deputy Director General for Technical Services, Eng. Bodour Al Meer, and Sustainability Executive Director.
Deputy Director General for Technical Services Eng. Ghanim Al Kuwari stated that "this recognition from GORD is an important part of our FIFA World Cup journey." "From the beginning, sustainability has been a key component of our plans since we are keen to build venues that benefit the local populations in Qatar long after the tournament. We are honored to accept these honors and give gratitude to everyone who worked on building the spectacular Lusail Stadium, which will host the FIFA World Cup final later this year, the biggest international football match in history.
The magnificent stadium can accommodate 80,000 people and has numerous environmentally friendly elements, such as a high-tech roof and water-saving technology. With its fascinating interplay of light and shadow inspired by the Fanar lantern, which is reminiscent of expert craftsmanship encompassing the Islamic and Arab regions, it is intended to reflect a legacy of art. The largest venue for this tournament, it takes inspiration from the beautiful themes seen on bowls, vases, and other works of art created as a result of the emergence of civilization in the region for its design and facade. The roof of the stadium is made of PTFE, a uniquely sustainable material. The aforementioned material protects the arena from heated winds, excludes dust, allows for the necessary amount of light for the pitch to thrive, and provides shade to minimize the weight on the stadium’s air conditioning.
The stadium will be transformed into a multipurpose community hub after the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 with the aim of inspiring international sporting associations. This will provide future players and the general public with a secure environment. The stadium's empty seats would be given away to countries with inadequate sporting facilities all across the world.
Ten thrilling games would be held in Lusail Stadium, beginning on November 22 with Argentina against Saudi Arabia and ending on December 18, Qatar National Day, with the final match.
