Hamad International Airport (DOH) achieved a new milestone in July 2024, serving 4.73 million passengers, marking its busiest month ever. This represents a 10.2% increase compared to July 2023, underscoring the airport's growing status as a global aviation hub.
Summer Travel Boosts Passenger Numbers
The significant surge in passenger traffic is largely due to increased flight frequencies by the airport's airline partners, responding to the high demand during the summer travel season. Qatar Airways, the national carrier, also played a key role by expanding its destination network and launching seasonal summer routes, enhancing the airport's global connectivity.
High Load Factor Reflects Efficient Operations
In July, the airport recorded a load factor of 82.8%, indicating that flights were operating with high occupancy rates. This high load factor showcases the efficient use of the airport’s capacity. The previous record for passenger numbers was set in January 2024, with 4.5 million passengers.
Top Destinations and Countries
The most popular destinations for travelers in July were London, Bangkok, Dubai, Riyadh, and Jeddah. Meanwhile, the top countries by passenger numbers were India, the USA, the UK, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE.
