He has secured this role following former Indian cricketer Rahul Dravid. Gambhir's first role as the head coach will be guiding the team in the limited-overs series against Sri Lanka.
The Indian team is set to play three one-day international matches and three T20Is starting from Saturday, Jul. 27.
Gambhir recently led the Kolkata Knight Riders to victory in the Indian Premier League (IPL) tournament.
Dravid signed from his role as head coach after India's victory in the 2024 T20 World Cup.
We wish Gambhir the best of luck with his new role!
