The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) and Microsoft announced the opening of Qatar's first hyper-scale cloud datacenter area on Wednesday.
It is projected that over the course of the next five years, it will boost Qatar's economy by around $18.7 billion and contribute 36,000 new jobs to the region.
Qatar will join the Microsoft cloud datacenter area, assuming the largest cloud infrastructure footprint in the world. This will significantly increase Qatar's competitiveness on a global and regional level and solidify the country's position as a leader in the digital sphere.
The statement was made during an occasion called "Qatar's Digital Journey into the Future," which was attended by politicians, prominent business leaders, and Microsoft executives from around the world.
