Costa Rica plays in Group E, along with Spain, Germany and Japan, and plays its group stage matches in three of the tournament's stadiums and begins its campaign against Spain at Al Thumama Stadium on November 23, and then will face Japan at Ahmed Bin Ali Stadium on November 27 of the same month, before concluding its matches in the first round against Germany on the first of next December on the grounds of Al Bayt Stadium.
The Costa Ricans are looking forward to repeating the achievement of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. In that tournament, they topped their group against three former world champions (Italy, England, Uruguay) and reached the quarterfinals, only to be stopped by the Netherlands on penalties.
The International Football Association (FIFA) highlighted the Costa Rica national team and its most prominent stars, on whom Colombian coach Luis Fernando Suarez counts a lot to make the difference in the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
The first of them, of course, is the mighty goalkeeper Keylor Navas, who is currently playing for Paris Saint-Germain.
Navas had a great performance in the 2014 World Cup, and as a result of this performance, he moved to the Spanish giant Real Madrid, to win with them many tournaments, the most important of which are the three European Champions League titles.
Many sports experts believe that Navas' great experience will play a major role in what the Costa Rican national team may achieve in the next World Cup.
As for the second player, he is the expert playmaker Brian Ruiz, player of the Liga Deportiva Alajuelense club in Costa Rica, and he previously played in several well-known clubs such as Sporting Lisbon, PSV Eindhoven, and Fulham.
Despite reaching the age of 37 and low in fitness, according to Costa Rican sports critics, Costa Rica coach Luis Fernando Suarez confirmed that Brian is the only player who secured his place in the national team list.
Brian Ruiz had a remarkable performance in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, scoring the winning goal against Italy in the group stage.
And the third player that was highlighted is striker Joel Campbell (30 years old), Campbell currently plays for the Mexican club Monterrey, and has previously played for several well-known clubs such as Arsenal, Villarreal, Real Betis.
Campbell participated in the historic achievement in Brazil 2014, where he scored the first goal in his debut against Uruguay, and although he no longer possesses that speed in individual confrontations, but he gained greater tactical maturity to become the forward of the Costa Rican team.
