Discover Al Dossary Park and Natural Reserve in Qatar
Al-Dossary natural reserve and park is located in the Al-Shahaniya area, 7 km north of the Al-Shahaniya roundabout (Al-Khurayb area).
Its owner, Mohammed Matar Al-Dossary, is a former aviation engineer who holds many local and international certificates, and has previously won the Gulf Cooperation Council Cup award, and was chosen as the first environmental personality in Qatar, Who began with the project in 1980, where it began to collect some wild animals and birds, including deer, ostriches, and some Qatari wild animals

The reserve consists of many sections, including:
1- The dried wild plants section
It contains a large group of wild plants such as bramble, , fruits, tamarind, and Sidr, and there is a plan to expand it to include all the plants of the Qatari environment and become a reference for students and researchers.
2- The birds section
It includes about 70 species of birds such as African ostriches, Australian ostriches (emu), squid, municipal pigeons, sun pigeons, homing pigeons, lunar pigeons, geese, ducks, peacocks, squids, falcons, and eagles.
3- The wild animal section
It includes many animals such as the Arabian Maha, the Llama, the Camel Abu Sanamin, the Moroccan Caribou, the Spotted Gazelle, the Reem Gazelle.
4- The Naval section
It includes a fish lake inside the reserve that contains many fish such as Abu Sayyaf and Lakhma.
The museum includes mummified marine animals such as fish, crocodiles, coral reefs and sea jelly. There is also a set of fishing tools such as nets, gargoyles, and hooks.
5- The Heritage section
It contains about 100 traditional pieces of old Qatari folklore, which are rare local tools that ancient ancestors used in their daily lives, such as swords, daggers and guns, It also contains tents and Qatari costumes.
6- The Lectures section
It is a small hall that can accommodate about 100 people, and it contains a display screen and speakers, in which lectures are given to school students about the Qatari environment in general and the history of the Al-Dossary Reserve in particular.
7- The VIP section
They are VIP rooms inside the main building, a VIP Majlis, and a popular Majlis in which important guests of the reserve are received, including ambassadors, ministers, and state guests.
8- The Sports Section
It contains a pool table, tennis table, fitness equipment, electric treadmill, and free wrestling tools inside the main building. It also contains a football field, a basketball field, and a volleyball field. There is a future plan to establish hexagonal courts and a large stadium to meet the public's requests.
9- The Animals Riding Section
It is a constant and essential activity in the reserve, where visitors, adults and children, practice the hobby of riding animals such as horses, camels and pony with the help of the workers and take souvenir photos in an atmosphere of hustle and bustle.
10- The Safari section
This section simulates the African safari, which is a large area and forest of loan trees, spruce, canary, and bramble, where there are a large group of coexisting animals such as the African and Arab Maha, the rim deer, the Afri speckled deer, the Moroccan ibex, the Indian Nilgay, the Cameron sheep, the Australian ostrich (emo) and the peacock. It is found inside the safari A small lake from which free animals’ drink, as well as a group of Qatari environment weeds. There is also a separate part inside the safari that contains ten barns with some wild animals in addition to a number of Qatari environment birds that are endemic to the safari area.
