Another film supported by the Doha Film Institute (DFI) has won big at a prestigious film festival! 'Insha Allah a Boy' won two awards at the Rotterdam Arab Film Festival.
The film won the highly esteemed 'Jury Award' and the 'Best Actress' award for Mouna Hawa's exceptional performance as Nawal.
'Insha Allah a Boy' is directed by Jordanian filmmaker Amjad Al Rasheed.
The film follows the story of Nawal and her daughter Nora (played by Seleena Rababah) who face destitution following the death of Nawal's husband in Amman.
The film was also selected to feature at the Cannes Film Festival, which made it the first Jordanian feature to be screened at the festival.
The Jordanian film secured the prestigious Rail d'Or award at Cannes 2023.
'Insha Allah a Boy' also premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on Sep. 12 to a full house.
The filmmakers and the cast of the film with their amazing work have truly earned this recognition and honor!
