The film was among the recipients of the DFI's 2021 spring grants and is among filmmaker Farah Nabulsi's list of films that portray the everyday struggles of the Palestinian people.

The film was shot in West Bank, Palestine and the plot is based there as well.

'The Teacher' is a film about a Palestinian schoolteacher Basem El-Saleh who is grieving the loss of his son.

The teacher then takes on the responsibility of his late son's friends Adam and Yacoub before Lisa, a volunteer at the school, joins him in taking care of the boys.

One of Nabulsi's popular films is 'The Present', which received an Oscar nomination for Best Live Action Short Film and the film won the BAFTA Award for Best Short Film.

Nabulsi has also written and produced various films including 'Oceans of Injustice' and 'Today They Took My Son'.
