In a tweet, the Qatar Meteorology Department (QMD) predicted a cold weather spell and strong winds to continue until Saturday, January 21st, at least.

It said that a significant drop in temperatures is expected in the coming days, with the minimum temperature plunging to a low of 12°C. It could go even lower in some southern and external areas.

The maximum temperature during the day is expected to range between 18-21°C and the lowest between 12-16°C.

The QMD attributed the reason for the cold spell to the strong northwesterly winds, with gusts exceeding 25 knots.

The QMD also issued a marine warning and cautioned people to avoid all sea activities until Thursday evening, as the wave height will range between 4-9 feet, sometimes reaching 12 feet.

Doha and other parts of Qatar experienced strong winds and blowing dust on Tuesday, January 17th.
