China’s State Administration of Immigration has announced an expansion to its visa-free transit program, allowing UAE and Qatari citizens to enter the country without a visa for up to 10 days. The updated policy is part of an initiative to simplify travel and boost tourism.
Eligibility and Requirements
The visa-free transit program is available to travelers heading to a third country, including Hong Kong and Macao, as valid onward destinations. Passengers must transit through one of 60 designated ports across China and stay within one of 24 eligible provinces, an increase from the previous 19.
Global Reach of the Program
This updated policy also applies to citizens of 52 other countries, including the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Russia, and most Schengen nations. The program allows short stays in China’s tourism-friendly cities while excluding restricted areas.
Additional Visa-Free Options
While China offers visa-free entry for up to 30 days for citizens of 38 other countries, this option does not extend to UAE or Qatari passport holders.
The 10-day visa-free transit is a significant step in enhancing travel convenience for UAE and Qatari citizens, opening new opportunities for tourism and cultural exchange in China.
