Have you checked out the largest handmade sculpture in Qatar yet? The sculpture, 'Awan', is made by the Qatari artist Aljazi Al-Naimi and is displayed at Fire Station's ‘A House Overlooking the World’ exhibition.

The sculpture is 165 cm high and 222 cm wide. 'Awan' translates directly to 'time' and the sculpture explore the fleeting nature of life. 

'Awan' embodies the hourglass motif, referring to the passage of time. Al-Naima has made the sculpture completely by hand and the materials for it were sourced locally. 

The sculpture is a deep green color optimizes how the mind receives messages. 

Al-Naimi created the sculpture as part of Fire Station's Artists in Residence programme. The exhibition will be open until Tuesday, Dec. 31 and entry to the exhibition is free. 

The exhibition is open for th following timings:

  • Saturday - Thursday: 09:00 am - 07:00 pm
  • Friday: 01:30 pm - 07:00 pm
