Uber's Mideast business Careem has informed its customers that it will be ceasing its operations in Qatar effective from February 28, 2023, through an email and a notification on its mobile app.

Two months after the World Cup in Qatar, a surprise announcement was made regarding Careem-branded vehicles. These vehicles were previously included in the official transportation plans for the tournament, along with cars from Uber and the local taxi provider Karwa.

"Unfortunately, Careem's ride hailing operations will no longer operate in Qatar as of February 28, 2023," said the message, which also told the customers holding Careem credit that the company would give their money back and a full refund will be issued by March 15.
