The Philippines’ Department of Tourism (DOT) has announced plans to relaunch Boracay island as a Muslim-friendly travel destination. This initiative aims to draw more Muslim visitors to the popular island.

Launch Set for September

According to the Philippine News Agency, the "Muslim-Friendly Boracay" project is scheduled to launch in September. The project will introduce private coves on the white-sand beach specifically for Muslim women, allowing them to swim in privacy.

Enhancing Muslim-Friendly Amenities

DOT Undersecretary for Muslim Affairs, Myra Paz Valderrosa-Abubakar, shared that the island will also establish a prayer room and an ablution area to cater to Muslim visitors.

Additionally, the DOT is collaborating with local businesses to certify accommodations as Muslim-friendly and ensure that restaurants offer Halal-certified kitchens.
