Richard Gadd, who stars in Baby Reindeer and penned the screenplay, took home three Emmys, including Best Writing, Lead Actor, and Best Limited Series. Gadd’s co-star, Jessica Gunning, won the award for Best Supporting Actress, rounding out the night of accolades for the chilling series.

Onstage, Gadd expressed gratitude for his journey, saying, “A decade ago, I was lost and broken. Now, I'm holding one of the most coveted writing awards in television.”

In another major highlight of the night, Shogun, the epic drama set in Imperial Japan, snagged the Best Drama trophy. The series, praised for its intricate political narratives, also made history with Hiroyuki Sanada and Anna Sawai becoming the first Japanese actors to win Emmys in their categories. Shogun earned 19 awards in total, a record for a single season.

Executive producer Justin Marks, while accepting the award, humorously noted, “You guys greenlit a very expensive, subtitled Japanese period piece with a poetry competition as the climax. I still can’t believe it!”
