All You Need to Know about the Qatar World Cup 2022 Volunteer Program
After more than 115,000 people from 187 countries applied to volunteer for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, during the first week of the launch of the FIFA Volunteer Program; Director of the Volunteer Strategy Department at the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy Nasser Al-Moghaiseeb confirmed that the registration window for the program will close next July, provided that the selection of all volunteers will be completed by the end of next September.

Al-Mughaiseeb said - in an interview with Al-Jazeera - that the committee tried, as much as possible, to ease the conditions for volunteering for citizens and residents, in order to provide volunteer opportunities for all, as the basic condition for volunteers is that they should not be less than 18 years old next October without the need for previous experience. In volunteer work, he pointed out that the process of selecting volunteers goes through 8 stages, including training and qualification courses.
On the importance of the Volunteer Program, Al Mughaisib explained that the program will be the largest volunteer activity in the history of Qatar, and through it, the Supreme Committee aims to gather people under the football umbrella to organize the first edition of the tournament in the Arab world and the Middle East.
Regarding the conditions, Al-Mughaisib said that volunteering is available to everyone of both genders and from all countries of the world, but all volunteers must be at least 18 years old by October 1, 2022, and there is no upper age limit, provided that the volunteer has passion and love for volunteer work, in addition to registration In all eight stages of volunteering, and a commitment to work during the tournament for a period of no less than 10 full days, and the volunteer must have the ability to speak English, and Arabic or any other language is an added advantage.
Regarding the monetary compensation, he explained that all volunteer roles in the 2022 World Cup are unpaid, but it is an opportunity of a lifetime to participate in the largest football event in the world, and volunteers will receive exclusive gifts such as uniforms, and be able to meet new friends from all over the world.
Al-Mughaisib said that until this stage, all volunteers must receive full doses of the vaccine against Covid-19 with an approved vaccine in accordance with the instructions of the Ministry of Public Health, and the volunteer may be required to undergo a Covid-19 examination before starting his shifts, and we will continue to follow the instructions of the Ministry of Public Health and inform volunteers about Latest requirements.
On his expectations from the volunteer program, he said: Since the Supreme Committee announced in September 2018, the door to volunteering has been opened for those wishing to support Qatar's journey toward hosting the upcoming World Cup. The volunteer program attracted the attention and interest of football fans from all over the world, and the volunteer registration portal received nearly 450,000 requests to contribute to organizing the World Cup and participate in the sporting events organized by Qatar in preparation for the tournament.
This turnout is the result of the work done by the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy in creating a culture of volunteering within the region, and the formation of a strong database over the past four years, and we expect over 100,000 applications to register for the World Cup.
