Indian expatriates will soon have a more affordable option for flying home. Air Kerala, a new low-cost airline, is set to launch, spearheaded by two Dubai-based entrepreneurs.

Green Light from Indian Aviation Ministry

Air Kerala recently received a no-objection certificate (NOC) from India’s civil aviation ministry. This crucial approval allows the airline, operated by Zettfly Aviation, to provide scheduled commuter air services for the next three years. The announcement was made at a press conference in Dubai, marking a major step forward for the airline.

Founders of Air Kerala

The airline is the brainchild of Afi Ahmed and Ayub Kallada. Afi Ahmed, known for securing the airkerala.com domain last year, has revitalized the project, which was originally proposed by the Kerala government in 2005. With the NOC in hand, Air Kerala is now focused on preparing for its inaugural flights.

Preparing for Take off

The next steps for Air Kerala include acquiring aircrafts. Afi Ahmed and Ayub Kallada, along with aviation expert Kanika Goyal, are working diligently to ensure smooth operations and management. The airline plans to start with regional routes and eventually expand to international destinations, including direct flights to Dubai.

Boosting Kerala’s Economy

Based in Kochi, Air Kerala aims to boost tourism and trade in Kerala. The airline is expected to create around 350 new jobs locally, contributing to the region’s economic growth.
