A six-metre long whale shark has been rescued by officials from the Environment Agency - Abu Dhabi and the National Aquarium.
Abu Dhabi media office has posted a video showing how the first operation of its kind was carried out.
The shark had lost its way and was stranded in a lagoon in Al Bahiyah.
Rescue teams had just one opportunity to guide it into a special bag, they succeeded and then towed it out into the Arabian Gulf.
A monitor was attached to the critically endangered shark before it was released to track its progress.
