The Qatari Ministry of Public Health announced that five Qatar hospitals have been ranked among Brand Finance's Global Top 250 Academic Medical Centers list.

According to the UK-based brand valuation consultancy, the National Center for Cancer Care and Research, an affiliate of Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), came in 60th place, while Hamad General Hospital, also a member of HMC, was ranked 63rd on the list.

The top 250 list also included the Rumailah Hospital, and the Heart Hospital -- two other HMC-affiliates -- in addition to Sidra Medicine.

"Having five Qatar hospitals ranked among the world's top 250 academic medical centers is an incredible achievement and highlights the commitment of Qatar's health sector to a deliver excellent care to our patients, on par with the world's very best hospitals. I congratulate the healthcare teams at all five hospitals for this remarkable accomplishment," Minister of Public Health, Hanan Mohamed Al Kuwari, said.

In 2016, HMC become the first healthcare system across the globe to have all its hospitals accredited by the Joint Commission International (JCI), with re-accreditation coming in 2019.

Sidra Medicine was also awarded the prestigious JCI Academic Medical Center accreditation in 2020.

The US' Mayo Clinic Health System topped the list, followed by Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) and Standford University Medical Center, making an all-American top three.
